Mount Godwin austen) were made by italian and American climbers. The race was ended with the italian success of 1954, planed aand carried out with military discipline by the italian professor Ardito Desio, who had been scientific leader of a 1929 expedition already.

Although K-2 is only the sencond highest mountain on Earth after mount everest. It is by far more difficult to climb and technically demanding.
