ITINERARY DAY: 01 RAWALPINDI TO SWAT After breakfast proceed by jeep to Swat via Taxila, situated 35 miles from Rawalpindi. Taxila once the seat of oriental culture. It was first mentioned as a Satrap of Achaemeenian Empire in 6th century BC. It was invaded by the Macedonian Alexander and passing along to other rulers until finally reaching the hands of Ashoka the Great, who molded the city in to a center of Philosophy, Art and Education. The creative Gandhara period followed shortly thereafter and Taxila remained a prosperous city. It came to a disastrous end when sacked by white Huns. Today Taxila is an
archeologist’s
paradise here is a well-maintained museum and eight sites. Among best-preserved
are Sirkap, Julian, Mohair Maradu and Bhirmond. After sightseeing of Taxila
continue to Swat a land that shines with fruit laden orchards, flowers filled
slopes, meandering rivers tumbling streams and is surrounded by the mighty
ranges of the Hindu Kush and Karakoram. The valley is 3250 feet above sea level
and Saidu Sharif and Mingora are the towns that from the last town accessible by
road. Day 02:SEE SWAT
VALLEY At a height of 6800 feet and is surrounded on all sides by
the snow-covered peaks of the Hindu Kush. Visit the Butkara excavated site, Swat
Museum housing rich collection of the ancient relics, Marghazar a beautiful
summer palace of the Ex-ruler of Swat located in a well wooded scenic site and
Mingora Bazaar with lively subtle of the upright fierce yet very hospitable
pathans. Day 03: SWAT TO KALAM Morning
breakfast about 3~4 hours to Kalam enroute Madyan, Bharain, Kalam. From Kalam
you can see inspiring view of "FalakSair" 6257 m. Kalam is above 6800ft over see level.
Kalam is cool in summer and a good base for those who enjoy hiking. In Kalam we
will visit lake Mahodand or the lake of the Fishes. Overnight at Kalam. DAY 04 KALAM TO SAIDU SHARIFF Morning return back to
Marghazar White palace via Saidu Shariff. Afternoon for city tour. It is at a
height of 6800 feet and is surrounded on all sides by the snow-covered peaks of

Early morning starts from Saidu Shariff towards Besham.In
the way we will cross Shangla Pass (7000 ft) and reach Besham. A small bazaar
strung along the KKH, Besham is cut into the hillside above the Indus 28
kilometers from Thakot bridge. Here the new road from Mansehra and one of the
old trade routes from Swat join. Halfway between Islamabad and Gilgit. From the
PTDC rest house at Besham you can scramble down to the Grey sandy shores of the
Indus. Overnight in Besham. DAY 6 BESHAM TO GILGIT Early morning drive on KKH towards Chilas. After taking
lunch in Chilas proceed to Gilgit. Gilgit visit the local bazaar where you can
hunt for souvenirs. We will visit to Khomer Bhudda flash back the history of
some 5000 B.C and have the roaring of Kargha Nala known as the cannibal. Day 07: GILGIT TO HUNZA
Day 08:Hunza In Karimabad (2500M),
you will explore the Hunza Valley and neighboring, see the daily life of
hard-work people. Visit to Baltit Fort, is former palace of Mirs (Rulers) of
Hunza until 1960, which is recently restored by Aga Khan Trust for Culture. And
also visit 900 years old Altit Fort was built by the people of Baltistan. When
Queen of Balistan was married to the prince of Hunza, as a presentation they
built this Fort which is on cliff of the Ruby Marble rock. The capital of Hunza is the only town in
the world, where you may view five peaks above 7000 m in all four directions.
The Mount Rakaposhi 7788 m, Diran 7256 m, Golden Peak 7027 m, Ultar- I 7388 m,
and Ultar -II 7310 m with princess Bobulimuting reaches as Hunza skyline. |
