THE LAST PAGAN TRIBES OF
HINDUKUSH
SEASON: MAY TO OCTOBER. DAYS: 10 A
perfect trip for those who enthusiast in studying the life styles and ancient
customs of the Kafir Kalash tribes living in three isolated valleys of Bomboret,
Rambur and birir in the heart of Hindukush mountains. We begin the trip from
Islamabad the modern Capital of Pakistan. Visit the impressive Faisal Mosque
with its unique architecture; explore the colorful Bazzar of Rawalpindi, the
twin city of Islamabad. Wander
through the ruins of the excavated city of Taxila, one of the most important
Buddhist site in the Indian Subcontinent dating back to from 6th century BC to
7th century AD. Visit the impressive archeological Museum, the three main
excavated cities of Taxila Bhirmound, Sirkap and Sirsukh. Travel
to frontier town of Peshawar, at the mouth of Fabled Khyber pass, explore old
city and visit the impressive archeological Museum, of Gandhara art and Tribal
collections. Drive
to the beautiful and historic swat valley, famous as the seat of Buddhism from
2nd century BC to 9th century Ad. Explore its ancient excavated sites; visit the
excellent Museum in Saidu Sharif and travel through lovely mountain villages to
explore the upper reaches of this valley. We drive on the four-wheel jeeps through the mountain village of Dir up to Lawari
ITINERARY: Day 1 Islamabad. Arrive
at Islamabad International Airport, meet and transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit
the Faisal Mosque the biggest mosque with its modern Architecture and Damn-e-
Koh to have the magnificent view of Islamabad the modern capital of Pakistan and
colorful bazaars of Rawalpindi the twin city of Islamabad. Day 2 Islamabad - Swat. Morning
drive to Swat valley, enroute visit the Takht Bhai monastery built in 2ndto 4th
century Ad, after visiting the monastery we continue drive through the Malakand
pass, visit the shighardara Stupa and drive to Saidu Sharif the Capital of swat
valley. Explore the colorful bazaar of Mingora. Overnight hotel. Day 3 Swat - Dir.
Dir Valley, visit the
archeological Museum at Chakdara and Churchill picket built by the British to
guard the tribal warriors. Continue drive to Dir and Transfer to PTDC Motel. Day 4 Dir - Chitral. Drive
to Chitral through the scenic Lawari pass 3118 meters and enter the mountain
villages of Chitral valley. The four-wheel drive offers the most scenic and
adventurous drive through the zigzags of Lawari Pass. Arrive Chitral and
Transfer to hotel for overnight. Day 5 Chitral - Bomboret. Morning
visit the Chitral fort and Shahi mosque in Chitral, afternoon drive by four
wheel jeeps to Bomboret village in Kalash valley through the scenic mountain
gorge, a magnificent view of Trich mir (7708 meters). Arrive Bomboret and
transfer to hotel for overnight. Evening visit the Kalash villages to enjoy the
traditional music and dancing of Kalash. Day 6 In Kalash valley. Morning
drive to the Rambur village a beautiful village in Kalash valley, short hike
through the village and visit the local houses to learn their ancient customs
and beliefs, afternoon drive back to Bomboret for overnight. Evening free to
explore the area. Day 7 Bomboret - Chitral. Morning
drive back to Chitral, after lunch drive to Garam Chashma, the sulphur springs
and after short a short walks around drive backs to Chitral. Evening free to
explore the colorful bazaar. Overnight hotel. Day 8 Chitral - Peshawar.
Day 9 Peshawar - Taxila - Islamabad. Morning
drive to Taxila to visit the impressive archeological museum, Julian monastery,
the excavated Cities in Taxila, Bhirmound, Sirkap and Sirsukh. After brief visit
in Taxila we drive to Islamabad. Overnight hotel. Day 10 Departure. Departure
to onward destination. |
