GASHERBRUM-II, 8035m.
The Gasherbrum peaks rise above the upper Baltoro glacier; I and II both
above 8000m, III through VI, the east peak
and three other summits are over 7000m, From Base camp at 5150m on
the Abruzzi glacier I climbed north over the icefall of the Gasherbrum Glacier
to 5700m at the base of Gasherbrum-V. I climbed through a blizzard but the nest
morning the weather unexpectedly cleared to reveal (from left to right )
Gasherbrum-I, east peak, and II through IV.
G-2
The first attempt
to summit G-II was made at the beginning of the 20th
century in 1956.
The Austrian climber Frito Movrac was the first to reach the top of G-2 in 1984.
The two top climbers R. messenger and H. kammerlander made a double ascent of
G-II and Hidden peak, two 8000ers.
ITINERARY:
Day 01 Islamabad:
Arrive Islamabad.
Day 02 Islamabad:
Briefing at Ministry of Tourism.
Day 03
Skardu/Chilas:
Fly to Skardu. In case of
cancellation of flight drive to Chilas (480 km).
Day 04
Chilas/Skardu:
Day free at Skardu. If your
are driving, complete road journey (07–08 hrs) to Skardu (275 km)
En-route has good view of Nanga Parbat (8125m).
Day 05 Askole (3000m):
By jeeps drive to Askole (6-7 hrs).
Day 06-12 :
Trek to G-II Base Camp.
Day 13-57:
45 days for acclimatization and climbing.
 Day 58-61:
Trek back to Hushe via Gondogoro La and back to Skardu.
Day 62 Islamabad/Chilas:
Fly to Islamabad. In case of flight cancellation drive to Chilas.
Day 63 Islamabad:
Leisure day at Islamabad. In case of
driving, complete rod journey from Chilas to Islamabad.
Day 64 Islamabad:
De-briefing at Ministry of Tourism.
Day 65 Fly Out:
Transfer to airport for your return flight home.
